Thornycroft Social Centre

Our social centre, based in Pontefract, provides the opportunity to socialise, meet new people, make friends and enjoy a wide variety of activities.

With our friendly team available to offer support and guidance, Thornycroft members can enjoy refreshments, a hot lunch, and access to a varied programme of social and recreational activities such as:

  • Gentle exercise classes e.g. pilates
  • Games and quizzes
  • Outings and day trips
  • Arts and crafts
  • Themed weeks and events

You do not have to be a former miner to attend, everyone is welcome, regardless of age or background but priority will be given to those living in former coal mining communities.

How to get there
The centre is easily accessed by public transport and there is free parking available on site. We also offer door to door transport on our minibuses, subject to availability and location.
