Miners’ welfare workshops: supporting trustees and building connections

At CISWO, we’re dedicated to supporting miners’ welfare charities by creating opportunities to connect, collaborate, and address common challenges.

On Wednesday evening, we brought together trustees from Crofton Community Centre, Cortonwood, Dodworth, Emley Moor, South Kirkby, and Swillington for an engaging workshop focused on key issues affecting their organisations.

The session covered a range of important topics, including:

  • Applying for funding
  • Modernising facilities to meet community needs
  • Ensuring spaces are fit for purpose
  • Recruiting new trustees

Beyond the discussions, the workshop offered a valuable opportunity for trustees to connect, share ideas, and explore solutions together. A shared interest in networking more regularly emerged, highlighting the importance of collaboration and mutual support.

We’re excited to build on the success of this session and look forward to facilitating further miners’ welfare workshops in 2025.
