CISWO – The Coal Mining Charity – has helped secure £6,500 in grant funding to support core running costs at Rainworth Miners’ Welfare Trust, helping the centre remain a vibrant hub for social, recreational and cultural activities in the local community.
Working closely with the trust, CISWO’s Grants Team successfully secured £1,000 from The Chesterton House Foundation, £2,500 from the May Hearnshaw Charitable Trust and £3,000 from the Sir John Eastwood Foundation.
The funding will help meet essential running costs, which have risen sharply in recent years, strengthening the trust’s ability to continue supporting families and individuals across the local community.
Kirsty Welch, trustee at Rainworth Miners’ Welfare Trust, said:
We are incredibly grateful to CISWO and the funders for their support in helping us secure this important funding. This support will make a real difference to the day-to-day running of the welfare and help us continue providing a welcoming space and valuable activities for the local community.
CISWO Chief Executive Nicola Didlock said:
This funding is a great example of how targeted grant support can help strengthen valued community spaces at the heart of former mining areas. By helping Rainworth Miners’ Welfare Trust meet rising core costs, we are supporting its long-term resilience and enabling it to continue delivering vital services and activities for local people.
Rainworth Miners’ Welfare Trust plays an important role in local life, offering a wide range of activities and opportunities for people to come together. This funding support will help safeguard the trust’s ongoing work and ensure it can continue serving the community well into the future.
