We are CISWO
We are CISWO. The Coal Industry Social Welfare Organisation. With a history going back to 1920, we have been a charity since 1995, working to improve lives and reduce disadvantage in coal mining communities. We are the only national charity solely focussed on supporting former coal miners and their families, other mining charities and local mining communities. Our services make a real difference to people’s lives.
Our Strategy
Through our five year strategy for 2023 – 2027 we want to ensure positive outcomes for our clients and communities, provide the best services we can, and create greater opportunities for those we work with.
Our Work
We provide a range of help for former coal miners and their families, we support over 200 independent mining charities and we protect recreational land in former mining communities.
Our Impact
We are delivering a wider variety of support than ever before and continue to develop our services to meet the changing needs of our beneficiaries, achieving positive outcomes for those that we work with.
