Ton Pentre’s new 3G Pitch brings sporting opportunities

CISWO is a national charity dedicated to supporting people in former coal mining communities. We focus on safeguarding essential recreational spaces, providing welfare services, and helping local charities to deliver lasting benefits. Projects like the 3G pitch at Ton Pentre demonstrate how these facilities can serve local needs.

The community of Ton Pentre in Wales is celebrating the opening of a new 3G pitch, developed with support from CISWO and the dedication of local trustees.

We worked closely with the trustees of Ton Pentre and District Recreation Association over six months, helping to strengthen governance, recruit new trustees, and create a sustainable business plan. These efforts supported the successful delivery of the new facility, which was primarily funded through £20,000 from our recreational facilities programme.

The 3G pitch will provide opportunities for sports, fitness, and recreation for people of all ages in Ton Pentre and the surrounding areas.

A trustee of the Ton Pentre and District Recreation Association commented:

We are very grateful for the support provided by CISWO and the funding that made the development of a new 3G pitch possible. This will benefit so many people of all ages in the area.

This project reflects our commitment to maintaining and improving recreational facilities in former coal mining communities, ensuring they continue to support residents.
