At CISWO, supporting access to higher education is an essential part of our mission. We provide educational grants to former mineworkers and their families, helping them achieve their academic and professional aspirations despite financial challenges.
Jessica’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of this support. Her father worked at Grimethorpe colliery before passing away in 2015. Determined to pursue her dream of becoming a vet, Jessica was accepted into the prestigious Royal Veterinary College, University of London. However, the costs associated with her education were a significant concern.
Since 2018, Jessica has received CISWO’s educational grant, which has been instrumental in her success. The funding allowed her to afford essential course materials and equipment, enabling her to focus fully on her studies and make the most of her learning opportunities.
CISWO has provided me with first-class support throughout my entire degree. The grant has helped me pay for lots of essential equipment required for my course. Without CISWO and their support, I would not have gotten this far in my degree. What a fantastic organisation providing support for students from underprivileged backgrounds wanting to achieve their dreams.
Jessica’s story exemplifies how CISWO’s commitment to education empowers individuals to overcome financial barriers, build strong academic foundations, and work towards a brighter future.
