Workshops for miners’ welfares

CISWO has been engaging with miners’ welfare trustees through a series of workshops aimed at addressing important issues and encouraging collaboration among various welfare charities. Recently, two workshops were held, bringing together trustees from different regions to discuss a wide range of topics and share insights.

On Wednesday night, CISWO held a workshop at Choppington Social Welfare Centre, inviting trustees from across Northumberland. The discussion covered topics such as funding, trustee recruitment and training, future planning, rising costs, and engaging with service users.

This event saw active participation from trustees of welfares in Ashington, Backworth, Choppington, Lynemouth, Pegswood, Stakeford and Bomarsund, and Stobswood, who engaged in thought-provoking discussions.

Trustees from the North East Area Miners’ Social Welfare Trust Fund also attended, providing an overview of the financial support available to former mineworkers and eligible charitable organisations in the region.

CISWO also hosted a workshop for trustees of miners’ welfares at Dinnington Resource Centre. This event saw participation from trustees of Treeton Community Centre and Recreation Ground, Thurcroft Miners Institute, Thurcroft Hub, Thurcroft Welfare Community Hall, Mosborough Miners Welfare Club, Kiveton Park Miners Welfare, and Dinnington Resource Centre. The workshop focused on networking, interactive activities, financial issues, community engagement, and developing sustainable solutions.

These workshops highlight CISWO’s commitment to supporting miners’ welfare charities by providing a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration.

Trustees interested in participating in future workshops or seeking support are encouraged to contact CISWO at 01709 728115 or via email at mail@ciswo.org.uk.
