CISWO – The Coal Mining Charity – has awarded a £10,000 grant to support vital improvements at Ifton Miners Welfare Institute, helping to create a more sustainable, energy‑efficient and welcoming space for the local community.
The funding has enabled the installation of upgraded, modern windows, significantly improving the building’s energy performance. These enhancements will help the welfare reduce long‑term running costs, protect the building’s historic fabric, and provide a warm, comfortable environment for community groups.
Ifton Miners Welfare Trustee Wyn Evans said:
We are incredibly grateful to CISWO for their generous £10,000 grant. This support will make a real lasting difference not only by helping us reduce energy costs and protecting the building for the future, but ensuring our Institute is once again a warm, comfortable and welcoming place for the whole community to come together.
Nicola Didlock, Chief Executive of CISWO, added:
We are pleased to support this important community project and help ensure the Institute continues to serve local people for many years to come. The improvements will not only enhance energy efficiency and reduce running costs but will help revitalise the space as a vibrant community asset. We are committed to supporting former mining communities to thrive, and this project is a great example of that work in action.
