CISWO – The Coal Mining Charity – is proud to support major improvements at Pinxton Miners Welfare, providing almost £17,000 towards a project that will give the much‑loved community building a new lease of life.
The £16,765 funding, combined with contributions secured with the support of CISWO from the National Lottery and the Blakemore Foundation, totals almost £38,000 and will enable the installation of a high efficiency air to air source heating system.
The new system will allow Pinxton Miners Welfare to heat only the rooms in use, reducing energy waste and helping ensure the building can once again operate comfortably throughout the year.
Nicola Didlock, Chief Executive of CISWO, said:
Communities like Pinxton Miners Welfare really depend on places where people can meet, support each other and share experiences. We’re really pleased to help with this much‑needed upgrade, so the building can stay safe, warm and easy for everyone to use
Pinxton Miners Welfare has served as a focal point for village life for many years but increasing maintenance challenges and an outdated heating system have limited its use. The upgrade will support the Welfare’s mission to welcome more local groups, clubs and residents back into the space.
Sarah Andrews, Director of Pinxton Miners Welfare, said:
The aim of this project is to bring this wonderful building back into full usage. It used to play a central role in the community, and I hope this work will help it to play that role again. The application process has been long but worth it, and the support from the committee and CISWO has been invaluable.
