Over £6,000 secured by CISWO for improvements at Denby Grange Recreation Ground

CISWO – The Coal Mining Charity has secured more than £6,000 in funding to support vital improvements at Denby Grange Recreation Ground, helping to enhance facilities for the local community.

Working closely with the trustees at Denby Grange, CISWO successfully accessed £5,179 from the Wakefield Council Local Capital Grants Programme alongside a further £1,250 contribution from Miller Homes, bringing the total investment to £6,429.

The funding will contribute towards the replacement of ageing guttering and fascias, as well as improvements to the recreation ground’s changing room facilities. These upgrades will help protect the pavilion from the elements, improve comfort and accessibility for users, and reduce ongoing maintenance and energy costs.

Andy Turner from Denby Grange said:

We’re really grateful to CISWO’s Grants Team for helping secure this funding. These improvements will make a big difference to keeping our pavilion warm, dry and accessible, while also helping to reduce maintenance and energy costs. It ensures Denby Grange Recreation Ground remains a safe and welcoming space for the whole community, all year round.

CISWO Chief Executive Nicola Didlock added:

This funding is a great example of what can be achieved when we work closely with local trustees and funding partners. These improvements will help ensure Denby Grange Recreation Ground remains a warm, accessible and sustainable facility that the whole community can rely on, both now and in the future.
