Job Title: Service Manager (Social Work)

Job Type: Permanent, full-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Salary: £47,750 per annum plus 29 days (plus bank holidays) annual leave, pension, Westfield Health, free onsite parking and other benefits


An exciting opportunity has arisen to be the national lead for our personal welfare service, supporting former coal miners and their families through a range of interventions.  


You will have operational oversight of the four regional teams, each headed up by a Senior Social Worker. Key responsibilities include leading this vital area of CISWO’s delivery, developing good practice, driving service improvement, and ensuring the organisation adapts to developments in policy and practice.


As a qualified social worker, the Service Manager is the national safeguarding lead and part of the Senior Management Team with the opportunity to shape services and contribute to the strategic direction of the organisation.  


Your responsibilities:
•    National oversight of the personal welfare service with line management of the Senior Social Workers, alongside responsibility for the organisation’s social inclusion provision and social day centre.

•    Be the organisations national safeguarding lead, ensure the service is operating to a high standard in line with good practice and adhering to legislation.
•    Lead on service improvement and be responsible for performance monitoring, addressing any underperformance or practice issues should they arise. 

•    Facilitate opportunities to involve service users in the planning and evaluation of services and developing good working relationships with partner agencies to enhance delivery.
•    As part of the Senior Management Team, to participate in wider organisational strategy, development, planning and monitoring.

•    Increase awareness of the personal welfare offer, promoting this through marketing and promotional activities and representing the organisation at events and meetings.

•    Develop policies and procedures to underpin the service and deliver internal training to disseminate good practice, upskill the workforce, and ensure consistency. 


To be successful in this role you will need: 
•    A degree in social work or equivalent social work qualification with a current professional registration.
•    Considerable management experience of social work teams in statutory or charity sector with experience of community social care services with older people and / or disability. 
•    Experience of performance monitoring, managing improvement, implementing new systems and processes, facilitating change, developing and updating policies. 
•    Knowledge of legislation and good practice, particularly in relation to older people, mental health and disability.
•    Ability to create good working relationships with team members, clients and professionals with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
•    Knowledge of and ability to use IT systems.
•    A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle with flexibility to travel across a wide geographic area with occasional overnight stays.
